Hi Nantha,

In my opinion, the hindu astrology is a kind of powerful and accurate science. Hindu Astrology is built on the position of the planets with relation to the Earth, Moon and the Sun. Indian Astrologers have been conducting research for thousands of years and correlated the planetary positions at the time and place of birth with the behaviour patterns of people and the events likely to occur in their lives.

The Indian Astrology, takes the lunar calendar (Moon cycle) as the basis for giving predictions of events in the lives of people. In addition, ancient Hindu Astrologers found that the two shadow positions known as the "Rahu" and "Ketu" , plays an important role in the accuracy of predictions.

Just as a mirror shows our reflection, Astrology tries to forecast the positive as well as the negative aspects of humans. The Hindu Astrology thus aims at protecting man from misfortunes and help him make his life more creative and joyous. However the best way to approach Astrology is to take it as a mere 'guideline' and not as an end in itself. A wise man would always be sensible enough to continue his efforts in life and not get carried away by any of these predictions.

cheers,
viki

vedic astrology and western astrology were both equally accurate thousands of years ago.But because in the difference in the way they calculate the position of the stars western astrology has become quite inaccurate. The movement of the stars means you might be a scorpio now when by western calculation you are actually thought of as a sagitarrius.Vedic astrology on the other hand,is still as accurate as ever due to its different method of calculation.

astrology is more about probabilities, its not cast in iron.It means at a certain period, the energies of mars for example will be affecting you alot,so the probability of mars based effects such as fights and arguments could effect you greatly.however,in the correct position it would means that mars effects gives you more opportunities for bravery and honor.

Yep!.. i guess exactly as how shreekumar puts it.. The vedic astrology is still efficient and accurate and does it jobs well.. most definately.. however itz rather tough to believe the calculatios of the west. As far as i know, i heard the locations also effect us, as in where exactly we live on earth and the time zones as well.. yah..
having said all this.. i still believe... we can defiantely change fate..wise enough to know that i guess.. wouldnt wait for astrology to guild us all our lives anyway rite..
cheers!
tcz..

yea, n it seems when they calculate the vedic one, they take the location n the differing time zones into consideration as well

To me astrology is something which tells u whats coming up next n explains y u r undergoin certain periods in life. Its like a "supplement" to allow u to understand your life n life decisions better BUT to solely depend on it alone for life to improve is unacceptable.

For example, if your astrological calculations say u wld study well n wld be in an high salary job= it doesn't mean that without your hardwork/effort u are going to get it.

Sitting there waiting fr things to happen cos Astrology said so, is definitely not gonna make things happen!

It simply illustrates that, according to your karma and the current position of the planets, the probability of so-n-so happening is significantly high. And for that thing to happen, we would have to do our part.

I feel,
- It is a base from which, we should propel further and not the other way round.
- It should be used to better understand whats coming up-to better prepare ourselves mentally n physically for it.
- And like what Mathu said, we can't solely depend on it alone to guide us all the way in our lives, we should do our part

Astrology can say that the possibility of you being rich is high but it is up to you to use your intellect to decide and work on the ways to gain the wealth and to protect it

Indian vedic astrology is the most accurate and efficient than any other astrological systems in the world.we need, date, time and place of birth to get your horoscope generated for astrological reading, report, predictions.

Jyothida shastram is blessing from god. it is very accurate. If in the panchagam, it is said that the sun is in this rasi, as per nasa calculation it is there too.
based on such accuracy loong time ago, it is indeed safe to conclude only rishis were able to come up with the shastram based on the star location.

even ancient time, if the stars were not right, time is said to be bad. thats why even now, english words such as as catestropher and disaster , the root word is aster(star). all is based on the star.
of course, all the stars listen to god's direction to save the dharma.
A devotee of god don't have to be tormonted for any evil effect of the star.

THus in kandar shasthi kavasam, it is said," navakol makilunthu nanmaiye seiyum'.
In thevaram it is said similar in the thirukolaru pathigam too.

JYOTHIDAM is very accurate, but the instruments who are the astrologers are not necessary good eough to utilise the power of it.

To understand more about how the system works, i give two links for your reference.
