hello ppl,

am sure most of you have heard de word trance. trance describes the phenomenon in which an individual leaves the physical body, and a disincarnate being enters or takes control of the body, often giving forth verbal messages to others in attendance. What do u guys think abt trance? Have u guys seen anyone in trance?

Hi Nantha,

Just like you, i have always wondered about Trance as well. This is esp obvious when religious occasions like Thaipusam is celebrated. Some ppl will stand normally and all of a sudden they become another person. PRetty SCARY at times!!

For me, i would say this trance state is just a psychological defect at that specific moment when the body is going through stressful moments. So the body so call goes into trance.

Well, to tell u that truth, i have seen my own mum once in trace. That was her first time and last time. I almost had a nervous breakdown when i saw her in trance. She actually didnt know what had happened after the trance and i was not in a position to explain what she actually did!

Namaste,

A very interesting topic and I hope the members would not find my views offensive.

When the mind conquers one's body totally, you can say that he is in trance. It is important to note that this trance has nothing to do with the Lord. It is his own thoughts and mental actions that have gripped him.

For example, just tell yourself that you are sad, miserable, unworthy etc constantly, and you will realise people asking you whether something is troubling you. Your face and actions will start to reflect your thoughts. When one constantly think of certain objects or person and when he fails to connect himself with his own reality, he becomes his thoughts.

This usually happens to people with weak minds, usually those who do not have a conviction of what they are. As they are very confused, they lose their identity. This has got to do completely with the mind, which is subtle in its nature. Therefore, allowing the subtle energy be it good or bad taking over them.

It is the same principle whether you get trance during Thaipusam or possessed by a ghost elsewhere. And usually this trance lasts until the mind gets reconnected with its own self. So, when you see your friends getting into trance of Muneeswaran, Muniandy, Kali etc, just know that they are not the gods. Since they constantly think of them, they become their characteristics for some time. A very very Good example would be how Jothika becomes Chandramukhi in the movie, Chandramukhi.

So, don't think that the 4D which made you rich instantly, is given by someone in trance. You will never know 'what' has given you that 4D, and remember nothing comes free. This is my advice out of my experience and of some people I know.

The important fact is that the nature of trance is attributed to ones mind and has nothing to do with the Lord. The only way to get rid of it is to make the mind more strong by having the right knowledge of oneself.

Hi all,

Ok, Trace seems like someone who lets the unconsious mind take over. How do you then explain the Uknown Different Language that the person speak when they are in trace. Even in chadramukhi, jothika starts talking in telugu
  ???

Hi GUyz!

Yup, i agree that the subconcious takin over the mind momentarily leads to the phenomenon known as a 'trance'...So when someone is in a split-personality state, y does he appear to noe about things he has no way of knowin?

First of all, we all have to accept the brain is a very powerful tool that shapes our minds. I cant even begin to explain the sheer power of belief. Belief has a way of reprogramming our minds to think in a particular way that we all thought impossible of us a few years ago. Heard of instances when after someone is involved in an accident, his personality changes overnight? Not onli is the brain capable of manipulating minds, it is also able to affect the physical environment. The mind is so powerful, it is claimed that it could even PROJECT images in some cases!

Ever heard of repressed memories? Memories that are dormant and shut out by the brain... Lets consider the Chndramukhi character for the sake of ease. A 5 minute television show in telegu while Jothika is flipping channels is enough for the the brain to 'reconstuct' the language entirely! Sounds far-fetched dosnt it? Yea tats y these stuff happen rarely onli to very very few.

And now we come to 'trance'.. Ever notice this: a trance usually happens when there are loud noises and a whole bunch of people around you ( like a guy gettin into a trance during thaipusam or when someone start speakin in Tongues in a sermon). It all boils down to the senses. When the brain gets a large volume of multi-sensory inputs, it tends to react in a funny way. Im sure the people gettin into trances have all known about OTHER people gettin into trances.

In other words, its a kind of 'copy-cat' behaviour.. the onli way the brain noes how to react.

Although i agree to a certain extent that trances happen onli to weak minds which are not able to handle the multi-sensory inputs, i dont think this is entirely correct. The concept of trance has been used by Rishis for many years and is still being used by Vaishnava classes on meditation- the samadhi state... A state of being when the mind attains a level of ecstacy, and sometimes refered to as a state of full awareness. The Rishis didnt need any form of multi-sensory inputs. They certainly were'nt of weak minds...

Cheers! ;)
